Jones Gallery Lecture Series presents an introduction to the Group of Seven. We will examine the life and work of major artists in the group, including Lawren Harris (1885–1970), A.Y. Jackson (1882–1974), and Franklin Carmichael (1890–1945), their collective and individual approach to landscape, common themes and motifs, and the group's role in early twentieth century Canadian art history.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Sarah Jones (BA, MA Art History, Queen’s University) is a visual artist, art historian, and curator. She conducted her graduate research on twentieth-century Canadian art and Nova Scotia artist, Maud Lewis, and recently participated in a panel discussion at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia about Lewis’ work in the marketplace. Sarah teaches art history occasionally at University of New Brunswick Saint John and is the curator of Jones Auction House and Jones Contemporary.
