Lecture Series | Maud Lewis

Sarah Jones, Curator of Jones Contemporary and Jones Auction House, presents an evening talk about Nova Scotia folk artist, Maud Lewis (1901-1970). We will explore Lewis’ technique, her approach to subject matter and landscape, and what makes her work compelling to so many viewers and collectors.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Sarah Jones (BA, MA Art History, Queen’s University) is a visual artist, art historian, and curator. She conducted her graduate research on twentieth-century Canadian art and Nova Scotian folk artist, Maud Lewis; she now teaches art history at Jones Gallery and University of New Brunswick Saint John. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for her own art practice, including from the Canada Council for the Arts and ArtsNB.
