Join us for a free evening lecture about the early work of artist Maud Lewis (Canadian, 1903-1970). Jones Auction House curator Sarah Jones will explore Lewis’ development as an artist, her influences, style, and technique in the 1940s and early 1950s. We will also explore the changes in approach that occurred throughout her career.

We will have six works by Lewis on view at the gallery during the lecture that are part of our current Canadian & International Art auction. Three of these are rare examples of 1940s paintings and the other three were created in the 1960s. We will be able to compare the differences in approach and chart the changes over three decades.
